There aren't too many genuine memoirs out there that are unglossed and unadorned. This is one of them. Libbe Siskind's story is not unique, unfortunately. But the combinations of the elements of adoption, foster childhood, abuse, unconditional love wrapped up with a child-like reverie is unique. This is the first of the installments of Libbe's chaotic and dramatic life. It's the foundation of her adulthood spent in the underworld. My heart breaks for that child, but knowing the woman, I celebrate her bravery and coming out on the other side.
